My top 5 books for 2016:
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Nobody is not an ordinary boy: he lives in a graveyard, with his ghosts parents and a mentor. He’s also threatened by an assassin without knowing the reason. Cool story, full of great quotes about life and death.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
The story follows Kell, a young magician, who has the faculty to travel through different worlds. One day, he smuggles something he shouldn’t have… It has magic, bad-ass characters and parallel London.
Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Andersen
Great and funny picture book with daily scenes every book lover can relate to.
Je me suis tue by Mathieu Menegaux
Very good debut novel by the French novelist Mathieu Menegaux. It depicted the struggle of a woman after a rape, and tells the reader why she had been put in jail.
Daily Rituals by Mason Currey
Non-fiction book relating all the personal organisation and rituals that creatives use to get their things done. It has some wonderful advice in it, very helpful.
And here are some more books I liked:
- V.E. Schwab, Vicious
- Yeonmi Park, In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl’s Journey to Freedom
- Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
- Maggie Stiefvater, The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle – Book 1)
- Marissa Meyer, Cress (The Lunar Chronicles – Book 3)
